Sightseeing

The castle grounds, the museum rooms, the two castle chapels, the casemates and the castle restaurant are open daily. You can explore the museum rooms at your own pace and without a guide. Castle staff are available in the rooms to provide explanations. Alternatively, the free castle app can be used as an audio guide. Further information can be found here.

On foot or by shuttle bus

From the parking lot to the castle

Shuttle Bus

A shuttle bus service is offered for the route between the parking lot and the Adlertor (castle entrance gate). The shuttle bus station is located next to the parking lot store in the upper parking lot P1. The lower parking lot P2 is opened if necessary and is then also served by the shuttle bus.

The shuttle bus runs approximately every 15 minutes after the general opening hours. (Weather-related restrictions are possible).

The price for the shuttle bus is already included in the admission ticket to Hohenzollern Castle.

Foot Path

The footpath leads from the parking lot on a direct and therefore quite steep path - mostly with stairs - to the castle. The last section of the footpath directly below the castle is closed due to roadworks. Pedestrians are diverted onto the road for the last 300 meters to the Adlertor (entrance gate to the castle).

The road between the parking lot and Adlertor is not open to the public (only permitted for castle traffic) and is therefore not very busy.

You should allow approx. 20-30 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the Adlertor.

Please avoid walking through the castle forest during storms (danger from falling branches).
In winter, the footpath is closed due to the risk of black ice.
