Every day

Royal Strolling

The castle grounds, the museum rooms, the two castle chapels, the casemates and the castle restaurant are open daily:

You can stroll through the museum rooms at your own pace and without a guide. Simply follow the red carpet. Castle staff are on hand to provide explanations in the rooms. Alternatively, you can download the free castle app onto your smartphone and use it as an audio guide. On your museum tour, you will stroll through 10 rooms on the 1st floor and 7 rooms on the 2nd floor. The spiral staircase in the flag tower takes you back to the ground floor, where the treasure chamber awaits you as the crowning glory of the museum tour.

You can also descend into the cellar. The entrance is directly in front of the treasure chamber. Silverware and knights' armor are on display in the 1st basement floor. And down a spiral staircase you reach the casemates, the former bunker rooms. The castle's foundation walls from the 15th and even the 11th century can still be seen here.

Of course, you can also visit the two castle chapels. The Catholic St. Michael's Chapel dates back to the 15th century. The Protestant chapel of Christ was added during the reconstruction of the third castle and magnificently decorated. The bastion also invites you to take a walk. On a clear day, you can enjoy a view of up to 100 kilometers from here.
