Courtly and heroic

Attention young princesses and brave knights: Which dances were popular in the past? And which dress went with which dance? How did they learn how to use a sword? On these two days, things will be courtly and heroic in the castle courtyard.

Program:

• What is a rapier, a dussack, a helmet crest or a fencing feather? Brave knights, take note. Here you can learn a thing or two and watch the professionals of historical martial arts in action.
• Falcon, owl, eagle – the Garuda Falconry Centre sends the kings of the skies soaring into the heavens. As well as the flight displays, you can marvel at these aerial acrobats up close and perhaps even hold them on your arms.
• The Freiburg Playmobile offers 10 children’s fairground stalls: fishing game, horseshoe throwing, ‘Poor Pig’, gallows skittles, maggots in cheese, bead threading, rat race, Robber Hotzenplotz, plate shooting and pea-busting.
• On Saturday, the ‘Spielmannszug Sigmaringen’ will perform three times. On Sunday, the ‘Historische Fanfarenzug Hirrlingen’ will take to the stage three times.
• Soldier Fritz von Tafelspitz and his colleagues, dressed in Prussian uniform, will patrol the castle grounds. They’ll be happy to stop for a chat and share stories from the lives of Prussian soldiers.
• “Le Bouquet coloré” brings history to life through dance, music and costume. The colourful group will stroll around the castle grounds and will be happy to chat and pose for photos.
• Court jester Klausi Blubbert will once again be sending his giant and tiny soap bubbles soaring skywards in the castle courtyard.
